It's Sunday so Grab your cup of coffee, tea or a soda and let's talk!!
Good Morning! Happy Sunday! Just another day in paradise!! Well, the weather has been very nice the last couple of days. We've even had the doors open in the shoppe most days but our nights are chilly! The sun setting the last few nights has been beautiful. Mike took some pictures and I've shared them with you under his own category! I really don't like the fact that at 5pm it's getting dark and we're driving home in it. Just another 3-4 weeks and then it will start changing for us...always have to think of the good don't we?
Today is our Harlie Girls birthday, so once I'm done here we will travel down to her birthday party! I'm excited to see my grandkids again and spend the day with them, my parents and my daughters!
It has been busy for us this last week. We've had groups of women come up and stay at the Harbor Star and others that are renting cabins and spending their time sewing and shopping! Always nice to see our ladies that come every year and share their lives with me. Yesterday I had a group come in and they were full of life which makes it fun for me! I love to hear others laugh it always brings a smile to my face. It was so cute they bought so much and had walked to the shoppe so I told them that I'd take all their new treasures to their home away from home for them! I got there and they invited me for lunch! Twas sweet of them but the shop had been hoppin all day and I needed to get back! I offered them a key to the shoppe in case they had a sewing emergency during the night or just wanted to shop in their pj's with no one around!
As you seen my website was down for about 5-6 hours one day this week. I was in a panic! They had a computer crash but was up sooner than they thought. This seldom happens, I have been very lucky with my website provider so I just sat and waited and walked the floor and sat and walked the floor more! At bedtime Mike took one final look and it was up and running! He said he knew I wouldn't sleep unless it came back up!! Thank you to everyone that called me to let me know I do appreciate it!
We've received in some great fabrics. I do have to tell you that my sales rep called me and told me I had oodles of fabrics sitting in the warehouse! I was stunned...why hadn't they been shipped out to us?? Well, long story short it was their fault and any that I would take they would give me a sale on...so I thought OK if they're giving me a sale on some of these then I will give my customers a sale!! A win win situation!! So we now have the whole line of Harvest Moon in stock by Buggy Barn for Henry Glass. Cottons and Yarn Dyes that is a beautiful line that isn't just for fall but one that you can use for any quilt. I already cut me a few pieces that I love...okay maybe more then a few!! The yarn dyes are beautiful, checks, herringbone and plaids! The cottons have the most beautiful colors to them, very rich! Benartex's Le Petit Fleurette is also a beautiful grouping that has been selling very well! I keep going back to it and thinking of a quilt that I can make with it. You know me I like the primitive/country fabrics but this is really pretty fabric. We've also made Jelly Rolls & Charm Packs for this collection. We've received in more Blessings by Moda! This has been really selling well for us as well! I sat with my Moda sales rep this week and if you scroll down you can see the collections that I've bought and when they will be here! The Block a Month Across the Wide Missouri by Jan Patek & Edie McGinnis will start now that I have the patterns. We will be using Blessings and other fabric collections for this BOM.
I just input two of my "A Few Pennys From Heaven" designs that I've been working on. I just took them to the printer yesterday and will have them on a pattern this week. There are 20 pennys in all. Quilt will measure 50 x 50. I'm quite excited for you to see this! I have all my pennys done now all that I have to do is sew them down to the background which will take some time but will work on it at night this coming week. I have this for a block a month or you will be able to just order the patterns once they are complete. Take a look and let me know what you think so far. Each penny is 6x6 and the background will be 8x8. There will be a border which will be 8 inches wide with half pennys on pennys all around with some diamonds and crows!!
Mike has asked me to tell you that if any of you have quilts that need to be quilted for Christmas to please give us a call to put your name on the list and send us your quilts and he will make sure that your quilts are complete for Christmas! I asked him about the 30 some that he has of mine and he just smiled at me! Those are for the first of the year when there is some down time for him!!
I want to Thank each and every one of you that have placed orders with us or has come into the shoppe. We so appreciate your support of the Cotton Patch! We wouldn't be here without your support so for that I Thank You!

My Family Life
I have to take this time to THANK each and everyone of you that holds my family in their prayers every day. I know that prayer is so powerful and has helped us get through each and every day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. What would we do without you! THANK YOU!
My parents:
Are doing well. They will be at Melissa's house for Harlie's party today and am excited to see them! They've both been well this week and have went to many estate sales! I did put up quite a few of my mom's treasures so don't forget to look and see what she has! We've already sold a few pieces!!
**Grandma's Attic which is my mom's corner of the shoppe that has Antiques & Collectibles Check some of her things in the "Grandma's Attic" category!
Our Harlie Girl...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HARLIE!!
Yes, today is Harlie's Birthday and we will be leaving to go to her party as soon as I'm done here. Our Harlie Donielle is 8 yrs old today! Yipeeee!!!
I bought her the cutest pair of pink winter boots and a few books, a doll, Cars car (she loves Mason's cars and won't leave his alone) and yes I bought her a cell phone!! Okay...you think I'm nuts don't you! Well, they don't have a land phone only Melissa's cell phone which she doesn't let the kids play with. So I thought since they've moved away from me I want to talk to Harlie every night like I do Mason and the only way that I can is to either pay for a land phone or buy a tracfone. So we bought her a phone and Mike fixed it up for her last night and when she receives it it'll be ready to use!! So now I feel better knowing I can talk with her every night and she will continue to know my voice!
So many of you have followed Harlie and our family down a road that most people doesn't have to ride on. I have to tell you that God gave us our Harlie Girl that has made my life so rich and meaningful. For you that doesn't know our Harlie Girl I will tell you a little bit about our girl. It's gonna be a long one so if you aren't interested please just scroll down!
8 yrs ago today I received that phone call that all grandparents are waiting for...my first Grandchild was about to be born. It was opening day of deer season so Mike was out in the woods hunting so I took off for the hospital. It did seem odd that we couldn't get the doctor to come in to check on Melissa but the nurses were always there. It seemed like days before she was ready to deliver our girl but twas just hours. The doctor came in just as she was delivering and the next thing we knew he took Melissa into surgery and Mark, Harlie's father and I were there to witness the whole thing. I knew that it was very bad and we stood in the corner of the room and watched as they worked on my granddaughter. Parents and grandparents worst nightmare...our girl wouldn't or couldn't breathe. She went seven minutes without oxygen. My mind kept going back and forth to where was Melissa and then what was going on with Harlie. Mark and I held each other and cried. When Mark stepped out of the room for a second they handed me Harlie once they got her to breathe. I was the first one in the family to hold our beautiful baby girl. Then Mark came back in and I handed him his daughter. They took her into a room and continued to watch and work on her. She kept going back and forth with not breathing. With Melissa out of it from sedation and Mark not knowing what to do I told the hospital that she needed to be taken to Saginaw's hospital where they have specialist. Mark left with Harlie and the team and Heidi and I stayed with Melissa until they would release her the next morning then off we went. We didn't know what was going on with Harlie at that time. Once we got there she was in a special little box but was alive and breathing. Melissa did get to hold her and standing back and watching it was truly a beautiful sight to see.
We really didn't know the outcome of it but was about to. We took Harlie to Ann Arbor and was told, Our Harlie Girl has severe brain damage and there wasn't much hope and she has cerebral palsy on her left side. She was probably going to spend her life laying on the floor and just staring into space. She was on a heart monitor for months and had seizures constantly. They put her on her meds and it seemed to help her. Melissa worked at the shoppe so on her work days she would bring our girl in with her. We had her all set up with a TV, baby swing...you name it if she needed it it was there for her. So all of my customers came to love our Harlie and followed her through her life so far. Mike and I always went to all doctor appointments with Melissa and Harlie and the specialist could not believe what he saw. She shouldn't be doing anything that she was doing..he actually would stand back and shake his head. He asked what we were doing and Melissa and I would tell him, we just had her at the shoppe, constantly walked with her in my arms to show her all the fabrics, we danced every day to the music, we sang to her, we prayed for her every minute of every day...and we just loved her. Day in and day out. He said that "Love" is what has brought her to be the person she is today. She didn't crawl like other kids but she scooted everywhere. Then we decided to take her to Mayo Clinic to see if they could do anything for her. We hopped a plane and was there to the best hospital in the US. They performed test after test and the morning that we were to leave they told us the outcome. She was seizing even while she was sleeping, she couldn't hold her head up but was like a rag doll. Melissa kept telling them she thought she was over medicated but they didn't listen. They told us that Harlie would probably die in her sleep and she didn't have long to live. We were heart broken. We cried on the plane ride home and were actually like zombies. But then I told Melissa they didn't know what they were talking about, Don't believe a word they said. So we went back to Ann Arbor and guess what, Melissa was right she was over medicated and once they got the meds right she could hold her head up and smile at us!! So now eight years later we have the most beautiful girl in the world with us still!! She walks, she runs, dances to music, she is having seizures again but I think it's from her growing. She's just now starting to chew and will bite into some foods. She can't talk but taps her heart to tell us she loves us and she does let us know when she wants something! She's My/Our Harlie Girl!!
So Today We Celebrate Another Year With Harlie with tears of JOY!! Amen!!
My Mason...
What a kid! I love him so. I talked with him every night this week and he's so darn precious! Today I get to see him and I can't wait! I did buy him a little something, you can't give one child a gift without giving to another!! So he'll open a present when Harlie opens her presents!!
All of my families pictures are under Nana's Place, about 4 or 5 rows down on my on line catalog!

Drinking From My Saucer
I've never made a fortune, and it's probably too late now.
But I don't worry about that much, I'm happy anyhow.
And as I go along life's way,
I'm reaping better than I sowed,
I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.
Haven't got a lot of riches,
and sometimes the going's tough
But I've got loving ones all around me,
and that makes me rich enough.
I thank God for his Blessings,
and the Mercies He's bestowed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.
I remember times when things went wrong,
My faith wore somewhat thin.
But all at once the dark clouds broke,
and the sun peeped through again.
So Lord, help me not to gripe,
about the tough rows I have hoed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.
If God gives me strength and courage,
When the way grows steep and rough,
I'm not asking for other Blessings,
I'm already Blessed enough.
And may I never be too busy,
to help others bare their loads..
Then I'll keep drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.
When I think of how many people in this world have it
worse than I do, I realize just how Blessed We really are!
Thank you!!
